Did you know that Nigerian groomsactually invite side-chicks to their weddings and brides also invite their sugar daddies as well?

How grooms invite side chicks to their wedding ceremonies

Nigerians have been talking about this low-key, festering dimension of unfaithfulness.

Triggered by the scandal involvingStephanie Coker’s husband and his alleged side-chick, Nigerians have been opening up on this low-key, common dimension of unfaithfulness.

A side-chick at Stephanie Coker’s wedding?

For about one week at the time of this article, TV girl Stephanie Coker andOlumide Aderinokun’s  marriage has been besieged with rumours of infidelity.

The couple married just over a year ago but Olumide is already being accused of checking out for extra marital pleasures. The scandal hit top gear when a purported DM conversation with Yolanda Nifise Ayemo, a young University student surfaced on Instablog Naija.

The content of the chat showed Stephanie’s husband planning a two-day rendezvous at Eko Hotels with his alleged mistress.

In the midst of all this, unverified sources have also claimed that Yolanda even went for the couple’s well-publicised destination wedding in Greece!

And this has prompted many people to share shocking experiences that somehow establish the commonness of grooms and brides inviting their sidechicks and sugar-daddies to be part of their big days.

Bride brings her sugar daddy

“Some of these chairmen of Naija Wedding receptions are usually the [brides’] sugar daddies that have sponsored her wedding & the band will just be calling his name and he will just be spraying the couple dollars.” A tweet from DaddyYoPierre[OfficialDaddyMo] reads.

Responses to the tweet further plunges the uninitiated into more dismay as they show nothing but a flagrant flouting of marital vows. Vows broken long before the ink used to append signatures on them even got dry.

“A friend got married early December, Chairman of event was the CEO of the company bride works for, he gave a check of 500k. Fast forward to 1st week of Jan, Chairman gave bride another 200k as new year gift, groom saw the alert, started digging, truth came out, my guy is single now.” reads a response from Viktor Osinachi [@Viktor_Osinachi].

replies, saying:

“As a young office assistant in the 90s, I saw this thing. My Boss had strings of Girlfriends. He was always the Chairman of the wedding receptions when these ladies eventually settle down. Some of the women even still come around after their wedding.”

Groom gathers his side chicks

This deception dynamics is apparently two-sided. Men are seemingly in on the act, too, inviting and parading side chicks at their wedding ceremonies, and even getting them actively involved in the whole nuptial process.

Still in response to DaddyYoPierre’s tweet quoted above, another Twitter user says;

“The Groom and sidechick sold the wedding cloth to my fam. Infact she was the head of RSVP, she's been posing as groom's adopted cousin. SMH”

Another one:

“Most Nigerian men invite their sidechicks to their wedding na. And vice versa the real loves of the Bride too. Why are we all getting excited about normal stuff in this day and age?

“I’ve been invited to a wedding by the sidechick of the groom before. And I went. She even had like 2 tables for her own guests. I know the groom too. He was just marrying the girl that “fits”. Everybody is okay.” Tweets Ayo Shonaiya[@AyoShonaiya]

It's a party for all

“…This is the age we live in now. In this Lagos, weddings are for all.

"Bride, Groom, sidechicks, sugar daddies, friends that know the whole jigsaw puzzle, parents that are none the wiser, as long as the Aso oke is on point... Everybody is happy” Ayo Shonaiya tweets again, reinforcing an opinion about married people and cheating in Lagos that has already been emphatically expressed in this Pulse article.

Olumide Aderinokun, whose wedding scandal somehow instigated this conversation has come out to deny the allegations levelled against him. So has hissuspected student side chick.

Have you been at a wedding where the bride’s sugar daddy or side guy was in attendance? Have you seen a groom’s side chick at some wedding you once attended?
